First things first, who are you and how do you help small businesses?
Hello, I am Kate Jennett, founder of Jennetts HR Solutions. We offer HR support to businesses for the entire employee lifecycle. It starts with recruitment and selection, ensuring the right candidate is in place, to ensuring the onboarding and induction process is right. Then comes everything during employment – documentation, policies and procedures, disciplinary and grievance, employee engagement, performance management…
Finally there is when an employee exits the business, whether this be through their own choice of resignation, or in a dismissal or redundancy scenario.
You name it we support businesses throughout the entire journey in whatever capacity required ensuring compliance at all times. Whether this be as an extra arm to the business and offering full annual support, or providing ad hoc support managing specific situations or projects.
What made you become a member of Start-Talk-Grow?
I think what is important to remember is that all businesses were a start up once and needed some help or support at sometime or another. When Cristina asked me if I would be interested in joining Start-Talk-Grow as a founding member, knowing this would involve me offering that support to others was a privilege. I was thrilled and very excited to be given the opportunity to join the company knowing what a significant contribution I could bring to the table. Giving back to the community is something that has always been important to me, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity – there is nothing more rewarding than giving back, and knowing you are making a difference.
What inspired you to start your business?
After working in HR for several years, I decided I wanted to use my skills and knowledge to offer advice and support to businesses which may not have HR in-house. It became apparent that more and more businesses were beginning to understand the importance of having HR presence, understanding there are a lot of obligations, regulations and regular changes to employment law that need to be followed, to not only ensure compliance but to ensure a productive and efficient workplace – and after being approached by a few local businesses asking if I could support them with this….Jennetts HR Solutions was born.
What makes you different from others in your field?
Our strap line says it all – “Your Business in our Hands”
I pride myself in getting to know my clients and their businesses and always tailor packages based on their individual needs rather than an ‘off the shelf’ fits all. Assisting with all aspects of HR, whether it be writing a one-off policy, specific employee issues which need managing in the correct way, or full annual support on a retainer basis Jennetts HR Solutions is here to support those that need it. Jennetts HR Solutions acts as a remote or an onsite HR function, always working in partnership with our clients to ensure that they receive full support and guidance.
What are the greatest achievements you’ve had in your business?
Achieving a Masters with Distinction in Human Resource Management. Studying during a pandemic whilst home-schooling and running a business was by no means easy but the result was so rewarding.
